Boats and community life

August 18, 2006

Lovely story. When Nehru visited the Alappuzha backwaters of Kerala in 1952, a boat race was organised in his honour. A boat named Nadubhagam Chundan won the race. An annual boat race has been held on the Punnamada Lake ever since.

This year a multinational team of women won the women’s boat race.

  2. One of the very fascinating aspects of Kerala. I guess the whole area and the race should be spruced up and made much more attractive.
