This young girl wanted new clothes for the festival. Her mother couldn’t afford the expense. The girl ran away from home. A rickshaw-puller found her, took her to his house, gave her something to eat. The village came together to get her some new clothes and send her home.

spoilt child. New clothes, new Ipod whats the difference?
Nice of the rickshaw puller to take her in and treat her to a nice meal though.
Anyway, Happy Diwali, Uma!

i disagree Neela. When you have nothing much to look forward to and be thrilled about, a small dream keeps you going. If it breaks, it might hurt bad. So it might not be anything to do with clothes at all..what do we know

Very Premchand-esque :)

PV: of course - point taken. There are some small dreams that might cause more heartbreak than others. But I feel more sorry for the mother who slogs so hard and still has to face this than for the girl who wants new clothes and doesn’t get them. I wish someone would have told the little girl this, so that the next time her mom can’t afford somethng she doesn’t run away again.
Anyway, its a happy ending, good for all concerned.
