“I’m alert all the time.”

March 5, 2007

On one of DNA’s recent Speak Up pages, the voices of women who have come to this city following their professional aspirations… One waited five months for a hostel room; another lives in a PG but her landlord objects to her late working hours; yet another woman changes for work once she reaches her workplace, because she doesn’t think her work outfits will be acceptable in the building where she lives.

“You end up having a totally different lifestyle than you imagined.”

“This place is absolutely safe, but I’m alert all the time.”

“Though male friends aren’t allowed at my place, girl pals are okay.”

“My neighbour has forbidden her husband from talking to me.”
